American Companies share the secret of successful business in Bulgaria The InvestBulgaria Agency to hold a business forum in New York A business forum organised by the InvestBulgaria Agency and targeted at companies from New York with a potential interest in direct investment in Bulgaria is being held on November 20, 2014, at Hotel Doubletree Metropolitan New York. The “Bulgaria: Grow your Business!” forum is the last of a series of business events taking place in 10 cities across Europe, Asia and the United States between the 21st of October and the 20th of November. Their aim is to popularise Bulgaria’s advantages as an attractive business destination. The Forum’s guests will be welcomed by the Bulgarian Ambassador to the USA H.E. Elena Poptodorova. Svetoslav Mladenov, Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency will give a presentation on the investment climate and advantages of Bulgaria. The agenda includes further presentations on successful practices of American companies operating in the country, who will share their experience of partnering with Bulgaria. IBM Central and Eastern Europe, EBRD Bulgaria, C3i, Boston Science and Technologies and Majio are among the companies that will share their experience on the Bulgarian market. The main economic sectors to be covered during the forum in New York are logistics, information technologies, business processes outsourcing and chemistry and related industries. The Executive Director of AmCham in Bulgaria, Valentin Georgiev, will present the Bulgarian-American business relations. Moderator of the forum is Thomas Higgins, an American investor, banker, economic development specialist and social entrepreneur, who has been living and working in Bulgaria since 1993. When asked about Bulgaria’s advantages, Svetoslav Mladenov, executive director of the InvestBulgaria Agency, says: “I believe that our country is among the most attractive for investors in Southeast Europe. At 10 percent, we have the lowest corporate and personal income taxes in the EU, while investors can reinvest up to 100 percent of their corporate tax in regions with high unemployment rates. As a member of the EU and the NATO, Bulgaria is a secure and stable country. It has the lowest budget deficit in the EU, while the presence of a currency board and a fixed exchange rate of the Lev against the Euro limit currency risk to a minimum. The relatively low cost of labor and the highly educated and qualified workers and staff are among the key factors.” The forum in New York is the last of a series of events taking place in Copenhagen, Stuttgart, Hanover, Geneva, Moscow, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Boston.
