Email: campglowbg@yahoo.com Website: http://www.campglowbg.eu What is Camp GLOW?: Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) began in Romania in 1995. Due to the incredible success of the first camp and the worldwide need for programs that support the needs of young women, the camp has continued to develop internationally. Camp GLOW can be found everywhere from Uzbekistan to Namibia, and also Bulgaria, where the first Camp GLOW was held in 2000. The organizers of the ninth Bulgarian Camp GLOW would like to invite you to apply for a seven-day experience that will change your life forever. Together with American Peace Corps Volunteers and young Bulgarian women from previous GLOW camps, you can have the opportunity to participate in an unforgettable week of bonding, learning, growing, and enjoyment. Camp GLOW’s curriculum is aimed at: fostering self-esteem; developing leadership skills; teamwork; communication; decision-making, and goal-setting; encouraging civic responsibility and volunteerism; nurturing tolerance; promoting the appreciation of culture and diversity; and expanding knowledge of current issues, such as HIV prevention, eating disorders and the trafficking of women and children in Eastern Europe. Camp Glow is conducted in English, and includes activities, games, seminars, workshops, a community service day, and guest speakers. Although GLOW is held in the beautiful town of Veliko Turnovo in the Stara Planinna Mountains, it is no vacation. Camp GLOW is challenging and thought-provoking, and seeks to enrich your understanding of what it means to be a woman in today’s society. Each day of camp is filled with sessions—beginning with morning meetings, and ending with nighttime themed activities. You are expected to attend all sessions in order to have the most successful camp experience possible. Fee: Upon acceptance into Camp GLOW you will be required to pay a registration fee of 80 leva, all other costs of camp are free of charge. You will also be responsible for buying your round trip ticket to Veliko Tarnovo. During this week long camp, participants will learn about topics such as Leadership and Teamwork, European Identity, Health, Values, Civic Responsibility and Community Service, Diversity and Tolerance, Goal-Setting, Communication, Self-Esteem, Ecology and Environment, and more. This week long Camp is conducted in English. The Camp GLOW Team would like you to write a short recommendation for your applicant as well as evaluate their English skills. We will evaluate the students writing skills with their written essay, but would like to get an evaluation of the applicants’ oral communication skills. Thank-you!
