The total abundance of macrozoobentos for long period of time has been modeled under undisturbed conditions and under different variants of runoff disturbance. The disturbed runoff is determined through the balance method in dependence of the ecological flow rate. A one thousand-year synthetic streamflow sequence at undisturbed conditions is generated. The obtained total abundance monthly series for runoff under undisturbed conditions and disturbed regimes are compared by making use of variance analysis. An ecological discharge value providing favorable macrozoobentos habitat is proposed.
