10.Начин на преподаванетекст (общо описание), напр. аудиторноThis elective course runs for 30 academic hours of contact hours (seminars) during the Fall Term (First term) of the academic year and relies on 60 hours of independent work. It is geared primarily toward 3 rd year students of English but not exclusively so. 12.Препоръчани избираеми програмни компонентитекст (общо описание)A useful background to the course are previous courses in any of the following: Introduction to American Studies, American History, American Literature, Popular and Mass Culture, Critical Theory, Critical Reading and Writing. 13.Съдържание на курсатекст (общо описание)The course aims at discussing the phenomenon of American cinema and American film in a cultural historical perspective i.e. in relation to issues of social and cultural relevance to developments and currents in American society, especially post World War 2. These will include but are not limited to Civil Rights Movements, Women’s Liberation, Youth Counterculture, aspects of Cold War culture in the USA etc. Additionally, the course will trace these developments in relation to film genres, such as the Great Teen-Pics, Road movies, the Western, ‘Black’ films, etc. and put them in the wider theoretical perspectives of structuralism, post-structuralism, post-modernism while analyzing and writing about American films. The course aims at providing students with the vocabulary and the theoretical background for semiotic film analysis, shot analysis, narrative analysis and audience response. 14.Библиография (основни заглавия)<списък библиографски източници>Core readings: Students will be given a Course Reader containing select chapters from Belton, J.
