Курсът анализира основни теоретични направления в езикознанието в рамката на съвременна световна литературна, които играят важна роля в съвременните хуманитаристични изследвания.

След успешно завършване на курса по дисциплината, студентите следва да знаят кои са водещите теории в интерпретирането на проблеми, свързани с различни страни на съвременната световна литература; да могат да прилагат елементи от литературата в собствените си критико-аналитични разработки.
10.Начин на преподаване текст (общо описание), напр. аудиторно
Курсът предвижда 60 часа аудиторна заетост и 90 часа извънаудиторна заетост. По време на извънаудиторната заетост студентите имат задачи за самостоятелно насочено четене и водене на записки, както и за проучване на контекстите на определени документи и автентични текстове.

Особено значение се отделя на специфичните фактори, мотиви, теми и структури, които дават типичното и специфично литература и култура; от колкото възможно е, всеки автор се поставя в философическия и естетическия контекст на своето време, като се проследява интерпретацията на типично теми и мотиви в творчеството му заедно с новите тенденции, които то очертава.

13.Съдържание на курса текст (общо описание)
Курсът по теория на литература и култура си поставя за задача:
1) да запознае студентите с различни по жанр и художествен метод литературни произведения, като ги съотнесе към историческите , културните и философски тенденции, и
2) да анализира предпоставките, идеите и целият историко-социален контекст, в който се заражда теории на литература и култура. Подходът е теоритично-аналитичен; всеки автор се поставя в литературния и социално-исторически контекст на съвременната ера.
Очаквани резултати са:
(1) да имат задълбочени знания върху литературната и културната история;
(2) да познават актуални англоезични изследвания върху него;
(3) да си изградят критико-аналитичен подход към изучаваните в курса произведения;
(4) да усъвършенстват уменията си за работа с оригинални художествени текстове на английски езикТози задължителен лекционен и семинарен курс се стреми да изгради основата на аспекти на английски стил.
Студентите се запознават с голямо разнообразие от теми, автори, и творби, както и да създадат умения за критическо четене и писане върху оригинални документи и текстове.Всички студенти се явяват на писмен изпит в две части въз основа на самостоятелната си работа през семестъра и темите от лекциите.
Крайната оценка по дисциплината се формира като средно аритметично между тези форми на контрол, както и добавен процент за активно присъствие.

Курсът завършва с изпит в две части. Първата е в тестови формат, втората се състои от разработване на критическо есе по зададена тема въз основа на самостоятелно подготвяни автентични текстове, както и знанията придобити по време на лекциите. Присъствието и на лекциите е зедължително и участва с процент във формирането на оценката за курса.
