Romania will be the host for the 2012 Bologna/European Higher Education Area Ministerial Conference and the Third Bologna Policy Forum. In preparation of these ministerial meetings, it will also host a special conference in Bucharest on 17-19 October 2011.

The “Future of Higher Education - Bologna Process Researchers’ Conference” (FOHE-BPRC) aims at covering both research activities with a focus on the Bologna Process and its effects, as well as the efforts made to define the framework under which the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) tools could be implemented at the national level.

The Romanian Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport and the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI) invites higher education researchers, leading academics, students and policy makers that have either conducted research activities concerning the Bologna Process/EHEA or are simply interested in the history and evolution of the process to participate.

The “Future of Higher Education - Bologna Process Researchers’ Conference” is organised with the support of the European University Association and will have two main thematic tracks: one on the research activities with a focus on core Bologna Process/EHEA issues (such as teaching and learning, quality assurance, mobility, access) and the other thematic track with an emphasis on framework issues, with a case study focusing on Romanian structural projects developed by UEFISCDI.

Classics graduate scholars at member universities of the Europaeum are invited to take part in this Colloquium, which aims to bring young European classics scholars together with leading academic experts, with the chance to present papers for discussion and critique by a fellow scholar.

Europaeum Graduate Workshop: Europe and Leadership: Can we do without Political Giants?, November 11–13th 2011

The Europaeum is organising special graduate workshop on Europe and Leadership, hosted by Leiden University from November 11–13th 2011. Questions will include: does Europe still yearn for new 'Giants' to lead it through its crisis ? What is the role for President, Commissioners, Council and Parliament ? What leadership role for Europe in the world ? How has leadership failure contributed to current crises ? Why do some prefer Brussels and others their national politics ? We will also explore how Europe can best secure stability and growth based on rational leadership and decision-making strategies.


As usual the event will allow 20 leading Europaeum scholars to present their research both to an international forum for discussion and in smaller working groups. The event is open to all graduates notably from European Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Economics Cultural Studies, History and Sociology.

Selections will begin at the end of September. All costs are covered apart from travel.
